How to easily find your ring size? (The Oetika method)
You want to know your ring size, but you don't have a ring sizer handy?
Good news: you can measure it at home with... a simple string, a cord, or even a small piece of paper.
At Oetika, we like simple, accessible, and hassle-free solutions.
Here is the most reliable method, tested and approved.
✨ The string method (or cord, or paper)
1. Prepare your materials
You will need:
-
A small string / a thin cord / a very narrow strip of paper
-
A pen (or a marker)
-
A ruler (millimeter scale)
-
And your finger, of course
(Spoiler: it even works if your fingers are swollen because you just ate noodles.)
2. Wrap the string around your finger
-
Choose the finger on which you want to wear the ring.
-
Wrap the string around the base of the finger, where the ring will actually rest.
-
The string should be snug, but not tight.
You should be able to move it slightly.
👉 Oetika Tip: measure at the end of the day, fingers are always a bit more "true" than in the morning.
3. Mark the meeting point
When the two ends of the string meet,
make a small mark with a pen to indicate the junction.
This is the decisive moment.
(If you mess up, try again — even Beyoncé didn't get it right the first time.)
4. Measure the length
Lay the string flat on a table and measure the distance between the start and your little mark.
➡️ Note the length in millimeters (mm).
This is your finger circumference.
5. Find your size using the table
In France, a ring size simply corresponds to the circumference of the finger in millimeters.
Example:
-
50 mm = size 50
-
54 mm = size 54
-
58 mm = size 58
Finger circumference = Ring size
Yes, it could have been more complicated... but it isn't (for once).
